Our Story

FROM RETAIL AND REPAIR TO a WHOLESALE MOBILE ELECTRONICS SUPPLIER
MAY 2004
Macalgeni Electronics began its journey in May 2004. Prior to that, we regularly used eBay to make personal purchases and sell unused household items. A pastor from our church, knowing about our experience with eBay, asked us to look into smartphones for the church staff. After spending countless hours researching to find the best possible deals, we became highly proficient at sourcing phones for significantly less than market prices.
This sparked an idea for us—why not keep buying phones at lower prices, list them on eBay at a markup, and earn some extra income? About a month later, we came across our first wholesale supplier through eBay. We began dedicating 3 to 4 hours each day searching for new vendors, and that effort paid off. With a steady enough flow of products, we were finally able to transition into selling on eBay full-time.
We relocated from California to Colorado with the goal of making the business our main source of income. At first, operations were run out of a one-car garage. As our presence on eBay expanded, we started receiving frequent requests from friends, contacts, and fellow eBay sellers interested in purchasing from us at wholesale prices. Our product volume quickly multiplied—quadrupling in a short time—which allowed us to shift more of our inventory through wholesale channels. The garage setup could no longer support our growth, so we began searching for a new space to house the business..
MAR 2007
We transitioned into a home with a walk-out basement, which we renovated specifically to support the next stage of Macalgeni Electronics' expansion. With the added space, we were able to ramp up our operations even further. The boost in volume made it possible to shift entirely from a mix of retail and wholesale to a purely wholesale model. To lower costs for our clients and improve our profit margins, we also began branching out into device refurbishment and repair services.
During this period, we provided inventory to several eBay sellers, acting as a key supplier for their businesses. Alongside that, we offered repair and refurbishment services to support the needs of our wholesale clients..
JAN 2012
We gradually phased out the refurbishing side of the business, shifting our focus to working with several companies that preferred handling refurbishment internally. This change enabled us to boost our volume once more and tap into a new segment of customers. As demand continued to grow, our basement operation could no longer keep up. For the first time in our company’s history, we began the search for a dedicated commercial space.
We acquired our first commercial property, marking a major milestone for the business. The space was significantly larger than what we were accustomed to, and we found ourselves wondering how long it would take before we could fully utilize every part of it.
As our supply grew, demand followed suit, and within roughly two years, we had completely maxed out our available space. We optimized the area with inventive storage solutions, but it was clear this wouldn’t suffice in the long run. With a strong team of repair and quality control technicians in place, we recognized that expanding our space was essential to fully leverage their skills.
AUG 2016
We relocated to our present facility, which provided three times the square footage of our previous location and gave us the crucial room to expand. Reflecting on those earlier days, it’s surprising to think how we managed with such limited space. But when you’re caught up in the day-to-day hustle, you learn to maximize every inch you have.
We introduced a robust database and inventory management system, which has greatly boosted our capacity while enhancing overall efficiency. Today, we supply numerous businesses with high-quality, pre-owned devices that are either ready for resale or refurbishment. Additionally, we offer repair stock units for companies that handle their own repairs and seek lower upfront costs. Each week, we’re able to provide substantial quantities of products compatible with all major carriers.
The COVID-19 pandemic compelled us to downsize our operations temporarily. This difficult time led to layoffs and a reduction in inventory. However, we persevered through the challenges, maintained operations throughout, and ultimately managed to restore our business to its pre-pandemic levels.
In the aftermath of COVID, we adapted to changing market conditions as numerous wholesale clients shut down. Despite initial challenges, we successfully launched an Amazon storefront, redirecting our efforts toward individual consumers—a major shift from our previous bulk wholesale model.
Building on our success with Amazon, we broadened our reach by returning to eBay and upgrading our database system to handle individual sales. This change allowed us to tap into a wider audience and strengthen our retail operations.
What began as a simple hobby quickly evolved into a full-fledged business. When we bought our very first smartphone on eBay, we never imagined we’d grow to where we are now.
We consider ourselves fortunate to have developed into a thriving company. Honesty and integrity are at the core of everything we do. Our dedication to outstanding customer service has helped us build a reputation that we truly value within the industry. We would be grateful for the chance to earn your trust and partnership.
